Dawn Chorus
Start your day off with a early morning outing to listen to a huge variety of birdsong at the edge of the woodland known as Emperor’s Brow.
Cost: Free of charge
Location: Edge of Emperor’s Brow woodland and 6th hole of the Park Course, a short walk from Hotel
Time: Daily from sunrise
Duration: As long as guests choose to stay

Attire: Comfortable clothing, walking footwear and warm jacket or jumper - we suggest also taking a bottle of water
Etiquette: The best way to hear the myriad of birdsong is to sit quietly and let the surrounding activity come to life. Please turn telephones to silent and ideally no dogs allowed as this will scare most wildlife and birds away. Please bring binoculars if you have any as there are so many birds, bugs and animals to spot
Birds: You may see and hear any of the following; Barn or Tawny Owl, Blackbird, Blue Tit, Bullfinch, Buzzard, Chaffinch, Chiff Chaff, Crow, Coal Tit, Firecrest, Great Tit, Goldcrest, Greater Spotted Woodpecker, Jackdaw, Jay, Longtailed Tit, Magpie, Marsh Tit, Mistlethrush, Nuthatch, Raven, Robin, Songthrush, Sparrowhawk, Tree Creeper, White Throat, Willow Warbler, Wood Pigeon, Wren
Forest Bathing
The Japanese art of Shinrin Yoku is a broad group of techniques with the intention of improving an individual's mental or physical health, specifically with an individual's presence within nature or outdoor surroundings. Escape into the heart of the forest at Goodwood for your own mindfulness treatment.

Location: Seeley Copse, short walk from the Hotel
Time: Any day between 7am and 7pm
Duration: As long as guests choose to stay, although two hours is a suggested duration
Booking: Please inform Hotel Reception
Attire: Comfortable clothing, walking footwear and warm jacket or jumper (to wear or to sit on)
Etiquette: Please turn mobiles to silent and unfortunately no dogs are allowed. Please stay as quiet as you can at all times and follow the beginner’s guide below.

Guided Forest Walk
A collection of carefully chosen walks through the ancient woodland with Goodwood’s Head of Forestry, Darren Norris. Hear about the history of the area, the many tree varieties and how they behave, the wildlife that lives in the woodland and the Goodwood ethos and strategy for preserving and expanding the estate forests.
Cost: £10 per person*, under 12s free (not suitable for under 5s)
*Money will be used to buy bat and nesting boxes as well as trees for our replanting schemes
Time: Every Friday at 10am - meet at reception
Duration: Two hours
Capacity: Between 2 and 10

Etiquette: Follow Darren into the depths of the surrounding woodland, wherever possible please keep as quiet as you can so as not to disturb the forest wildlife. Please turn telephones to silent and unfortunately no dogs are allowed as they may scare wildlife and birds away. Please bring binoculars if you have any and bring some water if required.

Estate Walks
Exclusive access is given to our hotel guests to walk through the historic park and ancient woodland around the 11,000 acre Goodwood estate. Maps are available from reception on request.
Cost: Free of charge
Location: Two walks both starting from the Hotel, one to The kennels and one in a loop through the Park and Seeley Copse.
Time: Any time between 7am and 7pm
Booking: Please inform Hotel Reception prior to your walk where you can also collect a map
Attire: Comfortable clothing, walking footwear and warm jacket or jumper - dress for the weather.
Etiquette: In order to ensure no one gets lost, please follow the marked routes. If you have binoculars please bring them with you as there are many amazing trees, birds, bugs and animals to spot. We kindly ask our guests to keep any litter with them and dispose of this back at the Hotel.
