Matt Baker and a team of six young people will take on the challenge for the 10th year across the Goodwood Estate
Support Team Rickshaw from home
We can’t wait to welcome Matt Baker and the team to Goodwood and wish them luck for their incredibly challenging journey. As you are no doubt aware, things are a little different this year and for everyone’s safety we ask that you support us by staying at home and watching The One Show - please do not come along to Goodwood to cheer. Instead, please send your messages of support on social media and, if you would like to, donate to BBC Children in Need.

Saturday is the start of the 332-mile route and Team Rickshaw will begin by tackling the famous Goodwood hill, where every year hundreds of cars take part in the 1.16-mile Hillclimb during the Festival of Speed. From the latest supercars to the classics, road and race cars and bikes, this route has seen almost everything automotive blast up it, but Team Rickshaw will be a first!
They will head north towards Goodwood Racecourse where they will enjoy panoramic views of the rolling South Downs and sparkling sea of the Solent. Often called the ‘most beautiful racecourse in the world’, Team Rickshaw will be travelling the same turf that horses have galloped across since 1801, when the third Duke of Richmond held the first-ever private race meeting here.
Once past the racecourse, the team can look forward to some thrilling downhill behind The Kennels, the clubhouse for all Goodwood’s members. Originally built to house the third Duke of Richmond’s prised fox hounds and designed by celebrated architect James Wyatt in 1787, it boasted an early central heating system and soon became known as the most luxurious doghouse in the country. Dogs are still very much part of the estate and warmly welcomed here.
Finally, Team Rickshaw head back towards Goodwood House, passing alongside the 1st hole of The Park golf course, which winds effortlessly around the beautiful 18th-century parkland.

The Rickshaw Challenge
The team plan to ride the equivalent of Matt’s first solo Rickshaw ride in 2011, from Edinburgh to London – 332 miles in a straight line – but will be doing this within the iconic grounds of ‘Glorious’ Goodwood. The team plan to take on the mammoth challenge, starting on Friday 6th November, and will have to cover a variety of terrains to reach their target each day, in time for a live broadcast on The One Show each night.
