All guests attending the Members’ Meeting are assigned to one of four Goodwood Houses, and they, the drivers and guests score points over the weekend for their House.

Visitors of all ages can join in the light-hearted competitiveness between the Houses – there are traditional school sports day events for younger guests and all manner of games to try. Favourites include duck herding, ferret racing, laser clay shooting, axe throwing, quoits and the hotly-contested Tug of War.

Dario Franchitti

Torbolton is now headed up by Dario Franchitti, four-time winner of the IndyCar Series Championship, and three-time winner of the Indianapolis 500. Dario is now a motorsport commentator and test driver and consultant for Gordon Murray Automotive.

"I'm really enjoying my historic racing, and this year, I have the extra challenge of motivating the Torbolton team in all the fun and games. Winning the shield would be good, but just getting involved as a House Captain is an honour in itself."

Gordon Shedden

Gordon Shedden is the new House Captain for Methuen. He last competed in the British Touring Car Championship for the Halfords Racing with Cataclean team, having previously won the series on three occasions; in 2012, 2015 and 2016, driving for Honda/Team Dynamics each time. He also spent two seasons in the FIA WTCR, from 2018 to 2019, driving for the Audi Sport Leopard Lukoil Team.

"Methuen has won the shield more times than any other house, so that's a big act to follow, but it's also fun because the Members' Meeting is such a great event, and it's good to get involved as a House Captain alongside the racing."

Tom Kristensen

Darnley is captained by Danish racing driver, Tom Kristensen. Known as ‘Mr Le Mans’, Tom holds the record for the most wins at the 24hrs of Le Mans with nine.

Andy Priaulx

Aubigny’s House Captain is Andy Priaulx. Andy is a European Touring Car Championship champion, three times World Touring Car Championship champion and the only FIA Touring Car champion to win an international-level championship for four consecutive years.

"I hope Aubigny can win the House Shield, but first and foremost, it's an honour to be chosen as a House Captain at the Members' Meeting. We are all racing drivers, so we want to win, but we're there for the club members and we want to have some fun."

Aubigny

The Duke of Richmond is Duke of Aubigny in France. This title descends from Louise de Keroualle, a young French aristocrat who became the mistress of Charles II and the mother of the 1st Duke of Richmond.

King Louis XIV of France made her Duchess of Aubigny and gave her the Aubigny estates. The fleur-de-lys is taken from the first and fourth quarters on the shield of the Duke of Richmond’s coat-of-arms.

Darnley

One of the titles of the Duke of Richmond is ‘Earl of Darnley’, a Scottish title.

The boar’s head is taken from one of the crests of the Duke of Richmond which sits below a motto or battle cry, ‘Avant Darnlie’ (‘Darnley to the fore’).

 

Methuen

Another of the titles of the Duke of Richmond is ‘Baron Methuen of Torbolton’, a Scottish title.

The lion’s head is taken from the third quarter of the shield on the Duke of Richmond’s coat-of-arms.

Torbolton

This House name also derives from ‘Baron Methuen of Torbolton’, a Scottish title.

The harp is taken from the first and fourth quarters on the shield of the Duke of Richmond’s coat-of-arms.
