LOTUS
In 1948 a passionate young British designer and engineer called Colin Chapman built his first car, a modified Austin 7. Work was carried out in his spare time in the lock-up garage belonging to his girlfriend Hazel’s parents, behind their house in Hornsey, London. He called his car the Mark I and entered it into local trials. Different models followed, each an improvement on the one before, and within four years it became a business that he and Hazel called Lotus.
Exactly 75 years later, Lotus is celebrating and the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2023 is at the heart of those anniversary activities.

Lotus at Goodwood 2023
A year after its static debut at Goodwood, the Lotus Eletre hyper-SUV makes it dynamic debut on the iconic hillclimb. The first customer cars will be delivered across Europe later this summer. The Eletre will be joined on the Lotus stand by the all-electric Evija hypercar and the critically acclaimed Emira, the last mainstream petrol-powered car by Lotus and the best of breed.
