A key part of the Festival of Speed since 1995
In contrast to the noise and excitement of the hillclimb, the Cartier Style et Luxe sets itself apart with stunning static car displays that celebrate incredible automotive design and elegance. Each year, a different selection of expert judges choose the winner, but rather than being solely composed of figures from the automotive industry the panel draws from other arenas. Architect Nicholas Grimshaw, singer Bryan Ferry, academic Dr Penny Sparke and designer Sir Terence Conran are just some of the people who have been tasked with defining style and luxury at the Festival of Speed over the years.
These cars are there to make the simple, but emphatic, point that the automobile, at its best, can claim to be one of the most significant creations of contemporary culture.
