What to wear to the races at Goodwood
The Goodwood Look
At Goodwood we embrace quintessentially British style – whether that’s high fashion or something more classic, it’s about a relaxed yet chic look. We are known for a distinctive style - linen suits, Panama hats and chic dresses are de-rigeur.
Ever since King Edward VII relaxed the dress code in the 19th century, we have enjoyed a carefree holiday feel here, unlike any other racecourse.

Richmond Enclosure
Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie. Boys aged 7-15 years are asked to wear a long sleeved collared shirt (no polo shirts).
Ladies, it's all about the garden party look. A floaty or floral dress, an elegant top and trouser/skirt combination that is suitable for England in summer. We recommend that you leave your stiletto heels at home, as the uneven ground can be tricky to walk on.
Shorts are not permitted in the Richmond Enclosure.

Gordon & Lennox Enclosures
There is no formal dress code for these enclosures.
Qatar Goodwood Festival: All guests are encouraged to dress in a smart and elegant way, bringing a sense of style suited to the occasion of racing at Goodwood. Please see our style guides for more inspiration.
Racedays (non Qatar Goodwood Festival): We ask all racegoers to dress suited to an afternoon’s racing at the world’s most beautiful racecourse.

I came here three years ago but once you’re bitten, you have to come back. It is always atmospheric here, it doesn’t matter what the weather conditions are, it is always a memorable day. Everything about Goodwood is done for love, it’s been crafted lovingly over centuries.
There are some amazing racecourses around the world, but without fail you feel like you’re in one of the most special.
The Qatar Goodwood Festival is a beautiful week and Goodwood is the most picturesque racecourse in the country.
