One of the most exciting parts of a raceday for many is deciding what to wear; it's a special opportunity for you to look and feel amazing.
As well as training hard for their role as jockeys in 2018's Magnolia Cup at the Qatar Goodwood Festival, models Rosie Tapner and Lady Alice demonstrated how best to dress to attend the five-day event, held each summer at the world’s most beautiful racecourse, nestled in the rolling South Downs.

The Dress
In glorious sunshine, Rosie and Alice embody Goodwood’s relaxed style in dresses by Temperley, Roksanda, Preen by Thorton Bregazzi, Ermanno Scervino, Philosophy, Mulberry, Erdem, Self Portrait, Vilshenko, Dodo Bar Or and Zimmerman.
Choose from key trends this season such as head-to-toe blooms, statement stripes or wallpaper prints. If you prefer something plain, soft pastel hues look equally fresh and contemporary. A simple tea dress, flowing maxi-dress or something more structured would work perfectly. Dresses also have the benefit of being comfortable and cool, should the sun shine all day.
The Shoes
Rosie and Alice wear shoes by Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo and Malone Souliers in styles that they can wear with ease all day long.
Luckily, flats are on trend and embellishment or fun colours stop them from being boring. If you are petite or are wearing a mid-length dress it may be more flattering to wear a heel. The kitten heel is enjoying a fashion renaissance right now with some great modern-day versions - feminine, flattering and most of all, easy to walk in, they work with almost any outfit.

Grooming is key. You can get away with a fairly casual outfit if the details are polished.

The Accessories
Rosie wears the famous Goodwood Panama.
The Panama hat is an icon of the Qatar Goodwood festival, worn by women and men alike. Its wide brim is perfect for shielding your eyes from the sun and its timeless style makes it the perfect addition to any outfit.
If a hat is not for you, why not try a pretty headband or beaded hairclip? These can be simple, yet still make a statement.
Atelier Swarovski have some beautiful jewellery pieces to complement any raceday outfit.
Make-up and hair
Warm, neutral colours are the perfect way to complete a raceday look. A touch of mascara, a dusting of rouge on the cheeks and a pink lip will leave you looking fresh-faced and sophisticated. If you prefer a little more coverage, a tinted moisturiser is the perfect way to even out your skin tone while also giving the appearance of a barely-there make-up look.
Although you should definitely hope for sun, manage your expectations of the weather when it comes to hair. Intricate styles could be destroyed by damp air and wind could blow an up-do out of place. Choose a natural look such as soft waves or even a low bun to keep hair out of the way.
