The MG4 all-electric hatch is receiving positive feedback over here, so tell of a 450PS (331kW) flagship version could be very exciting indeed. Meet the MG4 Triumph Edition, known as the Mulan Triumph Edition in its native China, delivering super sportscar punch in a humble family run-around.

That power comes courtesy of dual motors pushing it to all four wheels, fed by a 64kWh battery. The performance figures should be pretty spicy, with 62mph possible in under four seconds. Such a power figure sounds like a lot though, even for what is reported to be a nice handling platform. Happily, those motors should have torque vectoring capability too. Range is a bit of an unknown, though the Chinese tests certify it with 285 miles of range. Expect a lot less by our standards.
It’s a bit of a sleeper, mind, which might not go over well with the UK performance car buying market. We like some bravado to go with our muscle. Still, small signs are there of the performance potential, with orange callipers, new wheels and a Triumph Edition-exclusive green paint adding a bit of attitude.

As for when it’ll be available over here, concrete dates are yet to be given, though we’d be shocked if it wasn’t here within 12 months. Pricing isn’t known yet either, though the UK-available MG4 Trophy is around £32,000. With less than half the power, we expect it to undercut the Triumph Edition by at least £10,000.
