Much as it pains us, the superb Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is in its twilight years and as is quite often the case, the special editions floweth. The first of what we expect will be a few, is the Super Sport, which pays tribute to Alfa Romeo’s first victory in the 1928 Mille Miglia. The winning car was of course the 6C 1500 Super Sport, which is where this car gets its name from.

On the outside, the biggest telltale that it’s a Super Sport you’re seeing, will be the four-leafed clover, which for the first time in a century gets a black background. Paint options are Etna Red, Vulcano Black and on the Giulia only, Alfa White.
On the inside there are a few more hints, principle among which is the red-tinted 3D carbon trim, on the dash, central tunnel and door panels. There’s the Super Sport logo on the seats too and ‘1 of 275’.
Speaking of which, how rare are these going to be? Pretty rare, honestly. Just 275 Giulias and 175 Stelvios will be made for distribution worldwide, so it’ll certainly be a lesser-spotted beast.

As for performance and driving dynamics, it’s Giulia and Stelio QV as-was. That’s to say, significantly updated for 2024 with the new mechanical limited-slip diff and 520PS (382kW) courtesy of that 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6. They also both get the trick Akrapovic exhaust as standard.
Is this the most comprehensive of special editions? Not really. Is it still cool? Well, it’s based on the Quadrifoglios, so automatically, yes. The only question is whether you’ll stump up the extra £4,000 for each. The Giulia Super Sport starts from £82,815 and the Stelvio Super Sport starts from £91,835.
