Lamborghini has revealed all the juicy details on what is to power its hotly-anticipated Huracan successor. Even though the V10 is making way for a V8, it’s still incredibly good news for supercar enthusiasts.

Previous reports of a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 had many fearing the Huracan’s successor would be lumbered with the ubiquitous mill seen in the Urus, and various Audis and Bentleys, albeit with hybrid augmentation. Now, Lamborghini has confirmed this is very much not the case. What is known internally as the 634 engine has a 10,000rpm redline and a flat-plane crank.
The hard figures are as follows: 788PS (579kW) at 9,000-9,750rpm and 729Nm (538lb ft) of torque at 4,000-7,000rpm. Three electric motors are a part of the package, contributing a total of 150PS (110kW). Exact performance figures for the car are yet to be disclosed, though we can expect a sub-3-second 0-62mph time and a healthy 200mph+ top speed.

What is expected, given it’ll be a hybrid with batteries, is an increase in weight, but the instant shove of electric power coupled with the added lump of raw performance should more than make up for that.
Another potential performance boost for the Huracan successor could come in the form of Lamborghini’s revolutionary Active Wheel Carrier. The prototype system that’s been tested on Huracan mules can vary the car’s wheel geometry on the fly with everything from a flat, straight, efficiency-focused setup, to motorsport spec camber, caster and toe.
