The sixth entry in Ferrari’s long line of modern era V12 super GTs, that began with the 550 Maranello in the 1990s, is to be introduced tomorrow. Codenamed F167, we don’t know the actual name of what is rumoured to be hypercar-baiting GT with well over 800PS. We don’t know if it’s a hybrid, we don’t know if it’s an all-new engine. What we do know, is that it’s still a V12 and in 2024, that’s a miracle.

To prepare ourselves for its arrival, we thought we’d look back at arguably the most extreme variant of any car in this illustrious family. Based on the 599, is the 599XX Evo, an unchained, unrestricted track car designed to adhere to precisely no rules, except the limits laid down in the design department at Maranello.
This V12 engine displaces 6.0 litres and produces 750PS (552kW), less than the 812 and its upcoming successor, while stretching to a glorious 9,000rpm redline. It’s also much lighter, much more hardcore and produces more downforce than the road car. Enough with the fun facts, though. Enjoy this onboard clip of it flat-out around Spa-Francorchamps.
