Friday is for getting your eye in, identifying teething troubles and working out what about you or your car needs extra preparation. But come 24 hours later, on Saturday at the Monaco Historic Grand Prix, both had better be ready to give absolutely everything.

Picking up the pace in qualifying at the 2024 Monaco Historic
&width=1600)
For this is qualifying, where drivers set times to work out where they’ll start on the grid for racing on Sunday. And remember, around Monaco, qualifying is more than half the battle…
So if anything, the stakes are even higher, perhaps, than the race and watching them, you can tell. Granted, some historic racers are out there enjoying their cars, on a bit of a jolly. For the fun of it. But some take it very seriously and were pushing to the limit.
We’re fortunate enough to be positioned right on Rascasse corner in the media centre, so take it from us. Everyone was finding the limits of their front tyres right under our balcony, and absolutely screaming their way round Anthony Noghes, riding the wheelspin onto the start/finish straight.
