At the heart of Goodwoof will be our unique competition, Barkitecture! A stunning architectural exhibition and competition of cutting-edge kennel design. Kevin McCloud MBE, who is spearheading the project with the Duke of Richmond, has invited architects from around the globe to enter.
Dogs mean so much to their owners so I'm looking forward to seeing some fantastic designs to house them in style.

Barkitecture 2024 winner
The winner was 'Pet-All' by Rolls-Royce - Anders Warming, sold for £1,300 in the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction. The kennel that sold for the most was the 'Dash - Hound' by Birds Portchmouth Russum Architects Ltd. for £7,000.
A total of over £29,200 was raised from the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction in aid of the Goodwoof charity partner, Jai Dog Rescue.
Barkitecture 2024
Barkitecture returned once again in 2024, with a brand new theme ‘Lounge Access: For the Jet-Setting Dog’.
Architects were challenged to design a kennel that creates a sense of calm and tranquillity for dogs accompanying us on our travels. Now more than ever - whether short or long haul - our jet-setting pets are becoming frequent travellers on planes, trains, bikes and automobiles.
A collection of architects returned to showcase their amazing and inspirational creations at Goodwoof.

A unique competition
Architects are competing for the ‘Single Kennel Design Award’ for a single or double occupancy dog kennel, open to registered architecture or design practices, especially those with dogs.
Practices are then expected to design, construct or procure their kennel for a maximum construction budget of £250 and deliver the finished kennel to Goodwood for the event. All kennels will then be auctioned at The Bonhams Barkitecture Auction for our charity, Jai Dog Rescue.

'Bask II' by Gianni Botsford Architects
'Bask II', is an extension of last year's winning kennel. Crafted in thin layers of plywood into an elegant, curved form, 'Bask II' again pays homage to the warmth and geometry of sunlight. 'Bask II' is a portable form that enhances a dog's bask—an occupiable parabola, gathering warmth for a content canine, perhaps mimicking our own devotion to the sun on holiday. 'Bask II' sold for £1,100 in the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction.

'Gudruff' by Hawkes Architecture Ltd
This highly sustainable and durable kennel will withstand the elements, providing a robust shelter all year round. Inspired by tortoises who carry their homes on their back, Gudruff provides a strong protective shell for a dog to relax and chill thanks to the high thermal mass of the stone which helps to keep the inside cool on hot summer days and shielded from the elements during the cold, wet & windy winter months. 'Gudruff' sold for £6,500 in the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction.

'Headrush' by Hall + Bednarczyk Ltd
For many dogs, First Class travel means sticking their nose out of the window of a moving car, inhaling an intoxicating nasal blast of the countryside. Headrush takes that notion to its logical extreme, fashioning a kennel from the air intake of a vintage racing car. 'Headrush' sold for £2,000 in the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction.

'Moon Carrier' by Beta Design Office & Sebastian Conran
Akin to a space pod meeting a futuristic electric motorcycle, the Moon Carrier redefines the way we transport and care for our four-legged companions. Crafted with a thoughtful consideration for both pets and their owners, the Moon Carrier seamlessly integrates futuristic EV aesthetics with luxury tactility. The Moon Carrier has been created with three states in mind: fully open for use at home, 'cabriolet' style for sunny weather riding, and an enclosed state for rainy trips on your motorcycle. 'Moon Carrier' was sold for £1,300 in the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction.

'Soft Biome' by Grimshaw - Joakim Dahlqvist, Robert Sims & Hannah Reed
'Soft Biome' pays homage to the iconic Grimshaw-designed Biomes of Eden Project in Cornwall and is an adaptable design which can be used as a shelter or bedding. And the soft shape, which can be constructed at different sizes, becomes stackable for easy storage when travelling or for owners of multiple pets. 'Soft Biome' was sold for £750 in the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction.

'Issey Miyappy Tessellations' by Grimshaw - Andreaa Gulerez, Robert Sims, Hannah Reed
'Issey Miyappy' – can be used in a multitude of ways. The foldable dome creates a shelter for the dog which can be easily rolled up and packed away for transportation. 'Issey Miyappy' sold for £800 in the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction.

'Archi's Travel Trunk' by George and James Architects Ltd
A Trunk that fits perfectly inside the boot of any car, ready for your jet-setting companion to be taken to the airport lounge to await their flight. This idea has Archi's paw of approval! - He can unwind, snooze, snack and play whilst you wait to board. Both human and dog can remain close and interact throughout the day to minimalize anxiety, and make travelling as relaxing a process as possible for both you and your pooch. 'Archi's Travel Trunk' sold for £4,800 in the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction.

'Dash-Hound' by Birds Portchmouth Architects Ltd
'Dash-Hound' is inspired by dog's love of travel and speed; as enthusiastic passengers with heads projecting from car windows, accompanying their owner on a motorcycle or bicycle, or even self-propelled upon skateboards.
Dash-hound recreates the safe nurturing environment when pups suckle beneath their mother. To provide mobility and flexibility the canine inspired enclosure is fixed to a skateboard to become the highly desirable and
dynamic 'Dash-Hound' Dash-Hound has a sculpted fibre glass chassis overclad with high quality Italian tan leather, cross stitched at the seams, and represents extraordinary bespoke handmade craftsmanship. 'Dash-Hound' was sold for £7,000 at the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction.

'DBK-9' by Aston Martin Lagonda
Through a "barkitectural" twist of design magic, the Aston Martin "DBK-9" provides a distinct cocoon-like habitat that, when in use, reduces canine stress and promotes a safe space of comfort for any four-legged family member. By incorporating our timeless Aston Martin shape, form, and racing green colour, the design reduces vision and noise, protecting against elements of sun, wind, and rain. 'DBK-9' was sold for £1,500 at the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction.

'Time Traveller' by Lincoln Miles Architecture
The concept represents an intergalactic time-zone transportation egg shaped pod accompanied by a framed artwork conveying exerts from Traxler's book, 'Tales of a Little Black Dog' hand drawn pages, illustrations of the Time Traveller canine. 'Time Traveller' sold for £650 at the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction.

'Pet-All' by Rolls Royce - Anders Warming
Rolls-Royce highly talented artisans have designed and created Pet-All, a luxury Bespoke accessory that perfectly showcases the marque's expertise in craftsmanship and tailoring. A one-of one pet accessory, carefully crafted and created for Barkitecture, an architectural exhibition and competition of cutting-edge kennel design. 'Pet-All' was sold for £1,300 at the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction.

'Snowdon Mobile Kennel' by The King's Foundation - David Snowdon and Matthew Rice
'The Snowdon Mobile Kennel' is complimented with a life-size willow Chihuahua created by willow maker, Emma Stothard. Your pampered pooch can also sit in comfort on a pillow finished in a beautifully soft merino wool featuring a large Houndstooth pattern or an oversized Houndstooth wool cloth made by Locharron. Both fabrics have been woven in Scotland and up-cycled to ensure sustainability. 'The Snowdon Mobile Kennel' was sold for £800 at the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction.

'Pawtable' by Champan Taylor LLP
Pawtable - a modular marvel for pet comfort on-the-go. Driven by design and involvement of the user, as a design team, we are providing an idea, a new format for kennel design that looks at the comfort of your pet together with your creativity and spark for assembly. The kennel transforms from a portable rest to a lavish sunbed, as its jigsaw design ensures easy assembly and travel compatibility. 'Pawtable' was sold for £700 at the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction.
To this day, dogs can stay at the Hotel, accompany their owners in the restaurants, and even join our Members’ clubhouse, The Kennels. We thought that it was only fitting to dedicate an entire event to them, just as we do with cars and horses at our other flagship meetings.
Dogs mean so much to their owners so I'm looking forward to seeing some fantastic designs to house them in style.
