Take your first lesson in the Piper Super Cub with a 30-, 45-, or 60-minute flight. This beautiful aircraft started life with the Dutch air force as an L21B. It has been lovingly restored and is used for teaching the all-important tailwheel stick-and-rudder skills that this type of aircraft is renowned for worldwide. Your lesson will count towards your qualification should you continue to learn to fly.
What's included:
- Choose a 30-, 45-, or 60-minute trial lesson in the Piper Super Cub (this must be chosen at checkout)
- Full briefing from your Flying Instructor
- The briefing includes the basic controls of the aircraft so that you can take control during your first lesson
Availability
This experience is available throughout the year but is weather dependent. Please telephone the Flying School on 01243 755066 to book the date and time of your flight.
Participant Guidelines
Maximum weight 15 stone. All passengers must have a good understanding of the English language for briefing and instruction purposes. Everyone flying must be in reasonable health and able to climb into and out of the aircraft. Please note: anyone deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to fly.
There are no age restrictions on these lessons, but if you would like to continue training towards a licence following your experience, you will need to be over 14.
Weather
We will do everything we can to ensure that you have a great day, but we cannot influence the weather! Please contact us before you leave for the aerodrome, or the afternoon before if you have an early flight. The final weather decision will be made by your Instructor and you will of course be informed if there is any change to the plan.
Duration
For a 30 minute flight, please allow 60 minutes, including the briefing and your 30-minute flight, with 20 minutes airborne.
For a 45 minute flight please allow 90 minutes, including the briefing and your 45-minute flight, with 35 minutes airborne.
For a 60 minute flight please allow 2 hours, including the briefing and your 60-minute flight, with 50 minutes airborne.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time to book in.
Spectators
There is plenty of space for friends and family to come and watch you take off and land. We do ask that children are supervised at all times.
Dress Code
There is no need to wear any special clothing but comfort is definitely the order of the day. We do ask that you wear shoes that will enable you to get a good feel of the rudder pedals, therefore no heavy boots, we prefer trainers or deck shoes. Make sure you bring your sunglasses too!

3. Book your experience
Please call Goodwood Flying School on 01243 755066 and make your booking. Your voucher will be valid for 12 months from date of purchase and your voucher must be booked and used within this time.
4. Enjoy your experience
The time has come to enjoy your flying experience at Goodwood Aerodrome. On the morning of your flight, please call the Aerodrome to confirm your flight time and to check the conditions.
